South Korea and Japan were among the 14 countries represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” It will be the first ONE Championship event in 2019 to be held in Thailand.

Featuring five Muay Thai contests and seven mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Clash of Legends” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on February 16, 2019. In the 10th bout of the evening, Dae Hwan “Ottogi” Kim, 32, of South Korea facef Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo, 25, of Japan.

Kim was the only fighter who represented South Korea. Kamikubo was one of the three representatives of Japan.

Blue Corner

Born in Yokohama, Japan on April 12, 1995, Kamikubo graduated from Nihon University in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan where he was a successful collegiate judoka. He has been competing professionally since 2014.

A DEEP Future King 2014 Tournament Champion, Kamikubo joined ONE Championship in 2018 and defeated two opponents in the promotion in one year. “ONE: Clash of Legends”marked his third outing in the promotion.

Red Corner

From a small farming town in the southern part of South Korea, Kim moved to the capital city Seoil when he was in high school. He has been competing professionally since 2008 and joined ONE Championship in 2013.

Kim is a former Korean All Mixed Martial Arts Bantamweight Champion and is currently training at KukJe Gym and Ryeong Promotion in Seoul. “ONE: Clash of Legends”marked his ninth ONE Championship bout.

Fight Result

Kim and Kamikubo competed in an MMA bout in the strawweight division. Olivier Coste served as the referee.

After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Coste raised the hand of Kamikubo, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Clash of Legends” improved Kamikubo’s professional MMA record to 10 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. On the other hand, Kim now has 14 wins 4 losses and 1 draw.

“ONE: Clash of Legends” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Kongsak P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 28, of Thailand faced Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov, 24, of Russia in a Muay Thai bout in the bantamweight division. The Thai contender won via split decision.
In the main event, Nong-o Gaiyanghadao, 32, of Thailand and Han Zi Hao, 23, of China competed for the inaugural ONE Super Series Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship. The Thai contender won via unanimous decision.

Cambodia, China, France, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” Check all the results here.

Malaysia vs Japan: Muhammad Aiman, Shuya Kamikubo to fight at ‘ONE: Heart of the Lion’ in Singapore

Malaysia and Japan will be represented at “ONE: Heart of a Lion,” a ONE Championship event taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018. In the third bout of the evening, “Jungle Cat” Muhammad Aiman, 23, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will face Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo, 24, of Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.

Based out of Bali, Indonesia, Aiman has impressed in his time inside the ONE Championship cage thus far, defeating Hisyam Samsudin by unanimous decision in his first match in the promotion before stopping Brazilian grappler Eduardo Novaes in his second outing. In the Malaysian mixed martial artist’s most recent contest, he thoroughly dominated Chen Lei to win by submission in the second round.

Aiman is a former MIMMA Featherweight Champion while Kamikubo is the DEEP Future King 2014 Tournament Champion. A former collegiate judoka, the Japanese contender dedicated himself to his judo training during his studies at Nihon University and achieved several top finishes in major tournaments.

Now owning a professional MMA record of 8 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw, Kamikubo was inspired to compete in MMA by the success of fellow judoka and Japanese martial arts legend Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki. Before joining ONE Championship, the former competed mostly in Japanese regional promotions such as Pancrase and Tribe Tokyo Fight.

In the co-main event of “ONE: Heart of the Lion,” Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 30, of Singapore and Kazuki Tokudome, 31, of Tokyo, Japan will compete in an MMA match in a catch weight of 73 kg. In the main event, reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil will defend his title against ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of Kiangan, Ifugao, Philippines.

The bantamweight title unification bout will be a rematch between Fernandes and Belingon. Here is the full “ONE: Heart of the Lion” fight card:

Nihon University alum Shuya Kamikubo to make ONE Championship debut at ‘ONE: Battle for the Heavens’

One of the proud alumni of Nihon University is Japanese mixed martial artist Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo, 25. During his studies at the private research university, he dedicated himself to his judo training, achieving several top finishes in major tournaments.

Like Kamikubo, several well-known martial artists studied call Nihon University their alma mater. Among them are UFC fighter Maximo Blanco, judo wrestler Makoto Takimoto, judo instructor Yoshida Yonezuka, karate master Yutaka Yaguchi and sumo wrestlers Kotomitsuki Keiji, Hamanoshima Keishi, Satoyama Kosaku, Ishiura Masakatsu and Higonoumi Naoya.

Born and raised in Yokohama, a part of Japan’s Kawasaki prefecture, Kamikubo is a former collegiate judoka and the DEEP Future King 2014 Tournament Champion. He was inspired to compete in the cage following the success of fellow judoka and Japanese martial arts legend Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35.

As a professional MMA fighter, Kamikubo put together an impressive record of 7 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw under four years. He competed mostly in Japanese regional promotions such as Pancrase and Tribe Tokyo Fight.

On July 7, 2018, Kamikubo will compete in ONE Championship for the first time. He is scheduled to fight “The Terminator” Sunoto, 33, of Indonesia in the bantamweight division at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.” Currently reigning as the ONE Bantamweight World Champion is Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil.

Taking place at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China, “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” will be headlined by Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei. The winner will be the very first ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion. .

“World-class martial arts makes a triumphant return to the beautiful city of Guangzhou with another spectacular event,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated. He added that Yodcherry and Chuang will be joined by “several of the very best martial arts talent from China and the world.”
