Lerdsila Phuket Top Team expects facing best strikers in ONE Super Series

Lerdsila Phuket Top Team, 38, was one of the Thai martial artists who attended the official “ONE: Dreams of Gold” open workout on July 25, 2019. It took place at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Including Lerdsila, six fighters will represent Thailand at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” The others are Bangpleenoi Petchyindee Academy, 25, “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 29, ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 21, Muangthai PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 21, and ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion “The Baby Shark” Petchdam Petchyindee Academy, 21.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Dreams of Gold” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on August 16, 2019. One of the ONE Super Series bouts is a Muay Thai contest between Lerdsila and Savvas “The Baby Face Killer” Michael, 22, of Cyprus in the flyweight division.

While Lerdsila represents Phuket Top Team of Phuket, Thailand, Michael is training out of Petchyindee Academy in Bangkok. The Thai fighter holds a professional Muay Thai record of 189 wins, 31 losses and 5 draws while the Cypriot contender has 31 wins and 1 loss.

[PHOTOS] Thailand vs Cyprus: Singtongnoi Por Telakun, Savvas Michael fight at ‘ONE: Warriors of Light’ in Thailand

Thailand and Cyprus were among the 15 countries represented at “ONE: Warriors of Light.” It was the second ONE Championship event in 2019 held in Thailand.

Featuring three kickboxing contests, four Muay Thai matches and five mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Warriors of Light” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on May 10, 2019. The fifth bout of the evening was between Singtongnoi Por Telakun, 38, of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand and Savvas “The Baby Face Killer” Michael, 20, of Limassol, Cyprus.

While Singtongnoi was one of the six hometown fighters at “ONE: Warriors of Light,” Michael was one of the two fighters who represented Cyprus. Algeria, Australia, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Portugal and the United States were also represented.

Michael is training out of Petchyindee Academy in Bangkok, Thailand. He is a former WMC Muay Thai World Champion and a two-time Toyota Marathon Champion.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” marked Michael’s ONE Super Series debut. Among his previous opponents were Jonno Chipchase, Petros Papoutsakis and Saif Zaqzouq.

Singtongnoi started his Muay Thai training when he was 10 years old. He is a cancer survivor and was a WMC Muay Thai World Championship, a Lumpinee Stadium World Champion and a Rajadamnern Stadium Fighter of the Year.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” marked Singtongnoi’s third ONE Super Series bout. He defeated Masahide “Crazy Rabbit” Kudo, 27, of Japan at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes in Bangkok, Thailand on October 6, 2018 and Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri, 27, of Italy “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” in Kallang, Singapore on May 18, 2018.

Fight Result

Singtongnoi and Michael competed in a Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.

After three three-minute rounds, the flyweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Onari raised the hand of Michael, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Warriors of Light” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Michael to 31 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Singtongnoi now has 221 wins and 81 losses.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” Main Events

Petchdam Petchyindee Academy, 20, of Thailand and Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi, 21, of Algeria competed for the inaugural ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship in the co-main event. The Thai contender won via technical decision after an accidental groin attack in the fourth round.

Hiroaki “Kaibutsukun” Suzuki, 34, of Japan challenged reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-o Gaiyanghadao, 32, of Thailand in the main event. The Thai defending champion won via unanimous decision.

The official open workout for “ONE: Warriors of Light” took place in Bangkok on April 25, 2019. It featured NongO, Petchdam and Singtongnoi along with their fellow Thai ONE Championship athletes “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, 21, Superlek Kiatmoo9, 23, and Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit, 22.
