Undefeated Spokane fighter Tyler McGuire to make ONE Championship debut in Malaysia

Fighting out of Spokane, Washington, Tyler McGuire, 32, has joined ONE Championship. The American mixed martial artist’s debut in the promotion will take place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 13, 2018 at “ONE: Pursuit of Power.”

McGuire will compete in the welterweight division at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” against Luis “Sapo” Santos, 38, of Belem, Para, Brazil. It will be the eighth bout of the evening.

The Spokane native is entering ONE Championship with a perfect professional MMA record of 10 wins and 0 loss. Training out of Sik-Jitsu Fighting Systems in Spokane, he is known as a submission specialist.

Seven of McGuire’s victories came by way of submission. Known for his ability to display creative grappling techniques, he finds himself travelling halfway across the globe to Asia, where he plans to showcase his skills on the global stage of martial arts competition.

In McGuire’s most recent bout, which was at “ExciteFight: Conquest of the Cage” on February 2, 2018, he submitted his fellow Spokane fighter Jerome Jones, 33, via rear-naked choke. It was the eighth time McGuire finished a professional MMA bout in the first round.

On the other hand, Santos is coming out of a unanimous victory over Kiamrian Abbasov, 24, of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Brazilian fighter has 64 wins and 10 losses.

Headlining “ONE: Pursuit of Power” are Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 27, of Sweden and Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 22, who will compete in the welterweight division. In the co-main event of the evening, ONE Super Series athletes “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 28, of Thailand and Yohann Fairtex Drai, 26, of France will battle it out in a Muay Thai contest in the featherweight division.

Reunion Island’s Florent Kaouachi to make ONE Super Series debut in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A French veteran martial artist has just joined ONE Championship. Hailing from Reunion Island, France three-time Kickboxing World Champion Florent Kaouachi will make his debut in the promotion’s striking-only league ONE Super Series at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” on July 13, 2018.

A kickboxing match in the middleweight division between Kaouachi and Sergej “Kuvalda” Maslobojev, 31, of Lithuania has been booked for “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” which will take place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It will be the sixth bout of the evening.

Sporting a professional kickboxing record of 35 wins and 5 losses, Kaouachi is considered one of the top middleweight kickboxers to come out of Europe. The Reunion Island native is training out of Mahmoudi Gym in Bonneuil-sur-Marne, Val de Marne, France.

Kaouachi’s experience has now brought him to the prestigious ONE Super Series, where he aims to compete against the world’s very best in striking martial arts. To make a successful debut in the league, he has to outperform Maslobojev at “ONE: Pursuit of Power.”

Maslobojev is training out of Sparta Fight Gym in Vilnius, Lithuania. He is being trained by Andrius Sipaila.

“ONE: Pursuit of Power” marks Maslobojev’s second ONE Super Series bout. He made a a successful debut in the league on May 12, 2018 at “ONE: Grit and Glory”  by defeating Antonio Plazibat, 24, of Croatia.

The first match at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” will be a  Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division. It will be between Petchdam Kaiyanghadao of Bangkok, Thailand and Josh “Timebomb” Tonna of Canberra, Australia.

The main event of “ONE: Pursuit of Power” is a welterweight bout between Thani and Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 27, of Sweden. The co-main event is a ONE Super Series Muay Thai featherweight contest between “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 28, of Thailand and Yohann Fairtex Drai, 26, of France.

Lithuanian kickboxer Sergej Maslobojev’s 2nd ONE Super Series fight to take place in Malaysia

After a successful debut in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series, Sergej “Kuvalda” Maslobojev, 31, of Lithuania is returning to ring. Training out of Sparta Fight Gym under Andrius Sipaila, he will compete at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” on July 13, 2018 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

On May 12, 2018, Maslobojev made a successful ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Grit and Glory.” The Lithuanian martial artist defeated Antonio Plazibat, 24, of Croatia via unanimous decision at their catchweight bout of 95kg.

When Maslobojev returns to ONE Super Series at “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” he will face Florent Kaouachi of France. This is the first time the French martial artist is competing in the league.

At “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” Maslobojev and Kaouachi will compete in kickboxing contest in the middleweight division. It will be the sixth bout of the evening.

Before joining ONE Championship, Maslobojev has established a career as one of the most accomplished strikers to ever emerge from Lithuania. He is a KOK and WKA Kickboxing World Champion with an impressive professional record against international competition.

Maslobojev began training in martial arts at the age of 18 and soon blazed a trail across the local and European kickboxing scene with his skills. He even moved to Lithuania’s capital city of Vilnius in order to have better access to sparring partners and professional trainers.

Aside from the ONE Super Series kickboxing middleweight contest between Maslobojev and Kaouachi, there are two other striking-only bouts at “ONE: Pursuit of Power.” The first bout of the evening is a Muay Thai contest between Petchdam Kaiyanghadao of Bangkok, Thailand and Josh “Timebomb” Tonna of Canberra, Australia in the flyweight division.

China’s Xie Chao to protect clean ONE Championship record from Malaysian opponent

Chinese mixed martial artist Xie Chao won all of his three previous bouts in ONE Championship. On July 13, 2018, he will compete in the promotion for the fourth time, competing in a foreign land against a hometown hero.

Xie will compete in the featherweight division at “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” which will take place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He will face Keanu Subba, 24, a Kuala Lumpur native.

“ONE: Pursuit of Power” will be ONE Championship’s second event in Malaysia in 2018. The featherweight bout between Xie and Subba will be the fifth bout of the evening.

“ONE Championship returns to the Axiata Arena this 13 July for another blockbuster evening of world-class martial arts action,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated. “We have an amazing event planned for fans in Kuala Lumpur, as our ONE Championship athletes get ready to electrify the stadium with dazzling performances.”

“In the main event, Malaysia’s very own Agilan ‘Alligator’ Thani takes on Zebaztian ‘The Bandit’ Kadestam in a welterweight contest,” Sityodtong also announced. “Also, Jo Nattawut will face Yohann Fairtex Drai in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest.”

A top Chinese featherweight, Xie is originally from Qingzhou, in the Shandong province north of Shanghai. At the age of 20, he started training in Jeet Kune Do, a famed martial arts discipline developed and founded by the legendary Bruce Lee, and began preparing to compete in MMA four years later.

In Xie’s professional MMA bout, he showcased his burgeoning grappling skills and won via first-round armbar. The Shandong native made sure to leave a lasting impression in his ONE Championship debut, which was at “ONE Championship: Shanghai,” by submitting his Malaysian opponent Marc Marcellinus via kimura armlock in just 90 seconds.

In Xie’s second and third ONE Championship bouts, he both knocked out Kelvin “Ice Man” Ong, 30, of Malaysia and Meas Meul, 28, of Cambodia, respectively.
