Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation has yet to have a champion in its flyweight division. Among the athletes who are a few steps away from the vacant title is Jon Chris “Happy Feet” Corton, 26, who is training out of La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.
On September 21, 2018, Corton made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 16” at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where he defeated Hussein “Iron” Ayyad, 24, of Bahrain via unanimous decision. The Team Lakay fighter’s second outing in the promotion is scheduled at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” the promotion’s first ever Philippine event.
“Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Corton will face Abdul “Abba” Hussein, 21, of Finland in the flyweight division.
Riding a three-bout winning streak, Corton is on the brink of getting a title contender status. He hopes a decisive win against his Finnish opponent will be enough to start being included among Brave CF’s finest fighters in the flyweight division, which is full of killers including Jose “Shorty” Torres, 26, of the United States, Amir “The Prince” Albazi, 25, of Sweden, Marcel Adur, 27, of Brazil, Velimurad Alkhasov, 27, of Russia and 10-time jiu-jitsu world champion Bruno Malfacine, 32, of Brazil.
In the main event of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” Corton’s Team Lakay teammate Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, will defend his Brave CF Bantamweight Championship title from Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France. Including Corton and Loman, five Team Lakay fighters are on the card.
Corton has built himself a nice win streak which he continued in his Brave CF debut. However, he will have a tough assignment to deal with.
Holding a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 1 loss, Hussein is one of the most prominent amateur athletes to make a successful transition. In his most recent appearance, the Palestinian-Finnish fighter beat Sylvester “Gladiator” Chipfumbu, 26, of Zimbabwe via unanimous decision at “Brave 19” at Sun City Resort in North West, South Africa on December 8, 2018.
Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation has announced thefull fight card for “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” its first ever event to be held in the Philippines. Five of the 10 Filipino fighters competing are training out of Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines.
