Russia vs Canada: Marat Magomedov, Jeremy Kennedy fight at ‘Brave 21: Saudi Arabia’ in Jeddah

Russia and Canada were among the 11 countries represented at the Brave Combat Federation event “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” held on December 28, 2018 at the King Abdullah Sports City Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the final event of the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion in 2018.

Featuring 10 MMA bouts, “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” is the first Brave CF event to be held in Saudi Arabia. In the main event, Marat Magomedov of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia faced Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Magomedov was born in Russia on June 16, 1990. He has been competing professionally since 2011 and he previously competed in Russia Regional, Kavkaz League, World Series of Fighting and Fight Nights Global, among others.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” marked Magomedov’s second Brave CF bout. Six fighters represented Russia in the event namely Magomedov, Rustam Chsiev, Akhmed Magomedov, Usman Nurmagomedov, Ikram Aliskerov and Gadzhimusa Gadzhiev.

Red Corner

Born in Surrey on September 16, 1992, Kennedy is training out of Team Quest Thailand in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He has been competing professionally since 2013 and won three of his four UFC bouts before joining Brave CF.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” marked Kennedy’s second Brave CF bout. He was the only fighter who represented Canada in the event.

Fight Result

Marat and Kennedy battled it out in the featherweight division. The referee put a stop to the contest in the third round when the Canadian contender knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the third round via ground and pound.

Winning at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” improved Kennedy’s professional MMA record to 13 wins and 1 loss. He is now riding a two-bout winning streak.

This made Kennedy the second fighter to defeat Marat in a professional MMA bout, the first one being Hakeem “Mean” Dawodu of Calgary, Alberta, Canada who knocked out the Dagestani fighter at “WSOF 32” on July 30, 2016. Marat now has 10 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” Co-Main Event

In the co-main event of the evening, Gadzhimusa “Deadshot” Gadzhiev of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia faced Rami “The Russian” Hamed of Beirut, Lebanon in the welterweight division. The Lebanese fighter knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the first round.
