[PHOTOS] China vs Egypt: Fan Rong, Sherif Mohamed fight at ‘ONE: Legendary Quest’ in Shanghai

China and the Philippines were among the 15 countries represented at “ONE: Legendary Quest.” On the card were both mixed martial arts matches and ONE Super Series contests, featuring both kickboxing and Muay Thai.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Legendary Quest” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on June 15, 2019. The fifth bout of the evening was between “King Kong Warrior” Fan Rong, 25, of Harbin, China and Sherif “The Shark” Mohammed, 36, of Cairo, Egypt.

Fan was one of the five hometown heroes who competed at “ONE: Legendary Quest” while Sherif solely represented Egypt. Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Scotland, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom were also represented.

On June 12, 2019, Fan and Sherif had their official face-off during the press conference at Yunspace in Shanghai. The event was graced by ONE Championship Greater China chairman Hua Fung Teh and reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China.

Blue Corner

Born on September 6, 1982 in Cairo, Sherif has been competing professionally since 2012. He is a former Egyptian Fighting Championship Light Heavyweight Champion.

Representing Egyptian Top Team, Sherif joined ONE Championship in 2017. “ONE: Legendary Quest” marked his third bout in the promotion.

Red Corner

As an amateur fighter, Fan was a World Mixed Martial Arts Association Champion and as a professional athlete, he has been competing since 2016. He is training out of Longyun MMA Gym in Harbin under the tutelage of Jiang Long Yun.

“ONE: Legendary Quest” marked Fan’s second ONE Championship bout. Before joining the promotion, he competed in Wu Lin Feng, Dacheng Wuyi, Legend King Championship and Glory of Heroes.

Fight Result

Fan and Sherif competed in an MMA match in the middleweight division. Olivier Coste served as the referee.

Coste put a stop to the middleweight contest after 3 minutes and 50 seconds in the second round. Fan knocked out Sherif.

Winning at “ONE: Legendary Quest” improved the professional MMA record of Fan to 13 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Sherif now has 9 wins and 5 losses.

“ONE: Legendary Quest” Main Events

Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia faced ONE Championship debutante Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama, 43, of Osaka, Japan in an MMA match in the welterweight division. The Malaysian contender won via unanimous decision.

ONE Super Series debutante Alma Juniku, 18, of Australia challenged reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 27, of Thailand in the main event. The Thai defending champion won via unanimous decision.

Saudi Arabia vs Egypt: Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Islam Reda fight at ‘Brave 21: Saudi Arabia’ in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia and Egypt were among the 11 countries represented at the Brave Combat Federation event “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” held on December 28, 2018 at the King Abdullah Sports City Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the final event of the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion in 2018.

Featuring 10 MMA bouts, “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” is the first Brave CF event to be held in Saudi Arabia. In the eighth bout of the evening, Abdullah Al-Qahtani of Saudi Arabia faced Islam “The Egyptian Zombie” Reda of Egypt.

Born in Egypt on December 16, 1993, Reda is training out of Saracens Team in Cairo, Egypt.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” marked Reda’s Brave CF debut. He was the only fighter who represented Egypt in the event.

Red Corner

Al-Qahtani was coming out of his successful professional MMA debut. He defeated “Al Blouishi” Abdullah Muhammad Ali Musalim of the United Arab Emirates via unanimous decision.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” marked Al-Qahtani’s Brave CF debut. Three fighters represented Saudi Arabia in the even namely Al-Qahtani, Ahmad Makki and Mostafa Rashed Neda.

Fight Result

Al-Qahtani and Reda competed in the featherweight division. After three five-minute rounds, the bout was put in the hands of the judges.

In the end, the judges scored the bout 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28. The referee raised the hand of Al-Qahtani, who was declared the winner via split decision.

“Brave 21: Saudi Arabia” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Gadzhimusa “Deadshot” Gadzhiev of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia faced Rami “The Russian” Hamed of Beirut, Lebanon in the welterweight division. The Lebanese fighter knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the first round.

In the main event, Marat Magomedov of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia and Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada battled it out in the featherweight division. The Canadian contender knocked out his Dagestani opponent in the third round.

Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Russia and Syria were also represented at “Brave 21: Saudi Arabia.” Check the complete results here.
