They will compete for the ONE Lightweight World Championship title, which was recently vacated by reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian: Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam.

Less experienced, Khan is considered the underdog. But Folayang is not underestimating the Singaporean boxer.

“He is young and talented,” Folayang said of Khan. “I am also sure that he is hungry. There is no room for complacency in this match.”

“Of course, the momentum is on my side but I plan to sustain it,” Folayang claimed. “I started the year with a win. I followed it up with another big win. The timing speaks for itself.”

“2018 has been a very good year to me,” Folayang declared. “After November 23, I’m confident that the Philippines and Team Lakay will have another new world champion in the sport.”

After losing the ONE Lightweight World Championship title to Nguyen, Folayang defeated Dagestani fighters Kharun “Predator” Atlangeriev, 26, and Aziz Pahrudinov, 29. The Team Lakay fighter made a bold prediction that fans in attendance at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” will witness another coronation of a Filipino world champion in mixed martial arts.

“I feel very fulfilled because I made the right decision to compete again,” Folayang said. “Also, my hard work has paid off. It will be a great birthday present for me to bring home the belt again. It’s an added motivation going into the bout against Amir Khan on November 23.”

Khan holds the exceptional record for the most wins and finishes in ONE Championship, scoring impressive victories over the likes of Bashir Ahmad, Jimmy Yabo, Jaroslav Jartim and Adrian Pang. In Khan’s most recent bout, he defeated Folayang’s Team Lakay teammate Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29.

Representing Team Lakay of of Baguio City, Philippines, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, is on an upward trajectory since making his triumphant return to the ONE Championship cage. He had a one-month training in the United States after beating two previously undefeated Russian opponents consecutively.

“I just can’t be complacent,” Folayang stated. “As one of the top guys in my division and also a former champion, there will always be a target on my back. I didn’t think twice when it was offered to me to train there.”

Folayang accepted an invitation from a close friend to train in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In August 2018, he trained at the famous Jackson-Wink MMA training facility, which is a home to Jon Jones, Alistair Overeem, Andrei Arlovski, Donald Cerrone, Diego Sanchez, and other successful MMA fighters.

Jackson-Wink MMA got it covered for Folayang from striking to grappling. Headmasters Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn taught invaluable tricks of the trade to the Team Lakay with Brandon “Six Gun” Gibson supervising the striking drills of the former ONE Lightweight World Champion.

Also, Folayang trained at Jackson-Wink MMA’s branch in Acoma with Nick Urso, who handled Folayang’s grappling program. The Team Lakay fighter spent some of his time on the mats with the camp’s notable names, including Carlos Condit, Holly Holm, John Dodson and Michelle Waterson, as well.

The month-long training at Jackson-Wink MMA is perfect for Folayang’s return to the ONE Championship cage. On November 23, 2018, the Team Lakay fighter will make an attempt to redeem the recently vacated ONE Lightweight World Champion title at ONE: Conquest of Champions” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines against Amir Khan, 23, of Singapore.

Representing Evolve MMA, Khan won in his most recent bout in the ONE Championship cage. On September 8, 2018, he defeated Folayang’s Team Lakay teammate Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of Mankayan, Benguet, Philippines lost at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” in Shanghai, China .
