[PHOTOS] Philippines vs South Korea: Honorio Banario, Dae Sung Park fight at ‘ONE: Dawn of Heroes’ in the Philippines

The Philippines and South Korea were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” on August 2, 2019. It was the third ONE Championship event in 2019 that took place in the Philippines.

Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches and two Muay Thai matches, “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the seventh bout of the evening, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29, of the Philippines faced “Crazy Dog” Dae Sung Park, 26, of South Korea.

Including the Philippines and South Korea, 12 countries were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes.” The other countries were Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.

Banario was one of the five hometown heroes on the card. Park solely represented South Korea.

Blue Corner

Park is training out of Team Macho in South Korea. Born in South Korea on June 9, 1993, he made his professional MMA debut in 2013.

“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Park’s third ONE Championship outing not including his one bout in ONE Warrior Series. He was coming out of a knockout victory over Kimihiro Eto, 30, of Japan.

Red Corner

Banario is training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines. Born on September 25, 1989, he has been competing professionally since 2010.

“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Banario’s 17th ONE Championship outing. He was coming out of a knockout loss to Lowen Tynanes, 28, of the U.S.

Results

Banario and Park competed in an MMA match in the lightweight division. Yoshinori Umeki served as the referee.

After three five-minute rounds, the lightweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Umeki raised the hand of Park, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” improved the professional MMA record of Park to 10 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Banario now has 14 wins and 9 losses.

South Korea and Japan were among the countries represented at the ONE Championship event titled “ONE: Masters of Destiny” on July 12, 2019. The fight card featured mixed martial arts matches as well as ONE Super Series contests including Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the seventh bout of the evening, “Crazy Dog” Dae Sung Park, 26, of, South Korea faced Kimihiro Eto, 30, of Japan.

Eto is training out of is training out Wajutsu Keishukai HEARTS in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. After winning four ONE Warrior Series bouts, he made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.”

Red Corner

A ONE Warrior Series alum, Park is training out of MOB Training Center in Seoul, South Korea. “ONE: Masters of Destiny” marked his second ONE Championship bout.

Results

Yoshiniro Umeki was the referee of the bout between Park and Eto, who competed in an MMA match in the lightweight division. It was the fourth MMA bout of the evening.

Umeki put a stop to the flyweight contest after 1 minute and 59 seconds in the second round. Park knocked out Eto.

Winning at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” improved the professional MMA record of Park to 8 wins, 2 losses, 0 draw and 1 No Contest. On the other hand, Eto now has 16 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws.

Including Japan and South Korea, 20 countries were represented at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.” The others were Australia, Brazil, China, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam and the United States.

Park solely represented South Korea. Eto was one of the five representatives of Japan.

*UPDATE: Dae Sung Park was pulled out of the card due to medical concerns. He was replaced by Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju, 27, of India and Singapore. 

The Philippines and South Korea will be among the 14 countries that will be represented at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018. Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, it is the fourth and last ONE Championship event in the Philippines in 2018.

“ONE: Conquest of Champions” will feature eight mixed martial arts matches, two Muay Thai bouts and two kickboxing contests. In the 10th bout of the evening, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29, of Manyakan, Benguet, Philippines will face “Crazy Dog” Park Dae Sung, 25, of Seoul, South Korea.

Park is an alumnus of “Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series” Season 1, in which he knocked out Kimihiro Eto, 29, of Japan. After this, the South Korean fighter fought his first official ONE Championship bout at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” on July 13, 2018 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

At “ONE: Pursuit of Power,” Park defeated Trestle “Jun Minion” Tan, 32, of Manila, Philippines via unanimous decision. This makes Banario the second Filipino fighter to face Park in ONE Championship.

Red Corner

Banario is the first ever ONE Featherweight World Champion who reigned from February 2, 2013 to May 21, 2013. He is currently fighting in the lightweight division of ONE Championship.

The Mankayan native is coming out of a loss to Amir Khan, 23, of Singapore. On September 8, 2018, the Singaporean fighter submitted his Filipinio opponent via rear-naked choke at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon.”
