[PHOTOS] Australia vs Brazil: Andre Meunier, Anderson Silva fight at ‘ONE: Roots of Honor’ in the Philippines

Australia and Brazil were among the 18 countries represented at “ONE: Roots of Honor.” It was the second ONE Championship event in 2019 held in the Philippines.

Featuring two kickboxing contests, two Muay Thai bouts and 11 mixed martial arts matches, “ONE: Roots of Honor” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 12, 2019. In the eighth bout of the evening, Andre “The Giant” Meunier, 42, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia faced Anderson “Braddock” Silva, 32, of São Paulo, Brazil.

Blue Corner

Silva was born in São Paulo on August 29, 1986. He is training out of RVT Rizzo and TFT.

“ONE: Roots of Honor” marked Silva’s ONE Super Series debut. He previously competed in SUPERKOMBAT and GLORY.

Red Corner

Meunier  is a four-time Kickboxing World Champion. He is training out of Team Ultimate Gym Australia.

“ONE: Roots of Honor” marked Meunier’s second ONE Super Series bout. When he made his promotional debut at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China, he lost to Ibrahim “Mr. Cool” El Bouni, 25, of Morocco and the Netherlands.

Fight Result

Meunier and Silva competed in a kickboxing contest in the heavyweight division. Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee.

Dolaptsis put a stop to the heavyweight bout after 1 minute and 14 seconds in the first round. Silva knocked out Meunier.

Winning at “ONE: Roots of Honor” improved Silva’s professional kickboxing record to 51 wins, 17 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Meunier now has 42 wins and 9 losses.

“ONE: Roots of Honor” Main Events

In the co-main event, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23, of the Philippines challenged reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta, 31, of Japan in a rematch. The Filipino challenger knocked out the Japanese defending champion in the fourth round.

In the main event, reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam defended his belt against former champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa, 43, of Mongolia. The Vietnamese-Australian defending champion knocked out the Mongolian challenger in the second round.

Afghanistan, China, Cuba, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Roots of Honor.” Check the complete results on Conan Daily.

Badr Hari’s fellow Moroccan-Dutch kickboxer Ibrahim El Bouni to compete in Guangzhou, China

 

Fighting out of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Ibrahim “Mr. Cool” El Bouni, 25, will make his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China on July 7, 2018. Like famed super heavyweight kickboxer Badr “Golden Boy” Hari, 33, El Bouni is Moroccan-Dutch.

Both Hari and El Bouni were born in Amsterdam. In particular, the latter was born and raised in Haarlem, a part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area.

At “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” El Bouni will compete against Andre “The Giant” Meunier, 42, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in a kickboxing contest at a catchweight of 105 kg. It will be one of the three bouts on the card under ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

A young man still just at the beginning of his career, El Bouni is confident that his biggest wins are yet to come. Almost all of his wins came by way of spectacular stoppage and throughout his career, he has developed himself into a true knockout artist.

El Bouni has put his overwhelming power to good use, even winning a one-night, eight-man tournament to become the A1WCC World Champion. The young Moroccan-Dutch kickboxer is intent to rule over the heavier weight classes in ONE Super Series starting off by conquering Meunier, a four-time Kickboxing World Champion, at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens.”

Headlining “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” are Yodcherry Sityodtong, 19, of Thailand and Kai Ting “Killer Bee” Chuang, 23, of Chinese Taipei. They will compete for the very first ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion belt.

The other ONE Super Series bout at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” will be a Muay Thai contest between between Saemapetch Fairtex, 23, of Thailand and Deividas “The Savage Sitsongpeenong” Danyla, 26, of Lithuania. They will compete in the bantamweight division.

On July 7, 2018, he will face another promotional debutante Ibrahim “Mr. Cool” El Bouni, 25, of Amsterdam, Netherlands at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” at the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.

A four-time Kickboxing World Champion, Meunier has competed all over Australia and Asia. He has faced some of the striking arena’s biggest names and has never backed down from a challenge.

The Australian kickboxer grew up in a rough neighborhood in Melbourne. He originally trained in martial arts to learn self-discipline.

Meunier is a proven knockout artist. Aside from training out of the Ultimate Kickboxing gym under James Roesler, Meunier also regularly travels to Thailand to sharpen his skills with former WMTA Light Heavyweight Champion Nick Kara.

At “ONE: Battle for the Heavens,” Meunier and El Bouni will battle it out in a kickboxing contest at a catchweight of 105 kg. It will be one of the three ONE Super Series bouts of the evening.
