Australia vs Norway: Alma Juniku, Anne Line Hogstad fight at ‘ONE: Masters of Fate’ in the Philippines

ONE Championship has just announced its return to Manila, the bustling capital of the Philippines. This 8 November at the Mall of Asia Arena, ONE: MASTERS OF FATE will see the world’s best martial arts talent take the ONE Championship ring to showcase their skills.

WBC and IPCC Muay Thai World Champion Alma Juniku of Australia is back in ONE Super Series action when she takes on Anne Line Hogstad of Norway in a Muay Thai atomweight contest in 4-ounce gloves. Juniku made her ONE Championship debut against none other than two-sport World Champion Stamp Fairtex last June. She is now tasked to welcome ISKA Muay Thai World Champion and promotional newcomer Hogstad to the world’s largest martial arts organization.

In the main event, reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of the Philippines will defend his title against countryman Rene “The Challenger” Catalan.

Former two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines is on the comeback trail. He is scheduled to face MGL-1 FC Lightweight Champion Amarsanaa “Spear” Tsogookhuu of Mongolia in the evening’s co-main event. The veteran member of Team Lakay will have to deal with Tsogookhuu’s uncharted power, as the Mongolian boasts of a solid knockout ratio featuring three stoppages out of five victories.

[PHOTOS] Thailand vs Australia: Stamp Fairtex, Alma Juniku fight at ‘ONE: Legendary Quest’ in China

Thailand and Australia were among the 15 countries represented at “ONE: Legendary Quest.” On the card were both mixed martial arts matches and ONE Super Series contests, featuring both kickboxing and Muay Thai.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Legendary Quest” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China on June 15, 2019. The main event was between reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 27, of Pattaya, Thailand and her challenger Alma Juniku, 18, of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Stamp was one of the two fighters who represented Thailand at “ONE: Legendary Quest” while Juniku was one of the two representatives of Australia. Brazil, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Scotland, South Korea and the United Kingdom were also represented.

On June 12, 2019, Stamp and Juniku had their official face-off during the press conference at Yunspace in Shanghai. The event was graced by ONE Championship Greater China chairman Hua Fung Teh and reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China.

Born on December 13, 2010 in Australia, Juniku started training in Muay Thai when she was 8 years old. She was 17 when she made her professional Muay Thai debut and went on to become an Australian National Muay Thai Champion and a World Boxing Council and International Professional Combat Council Muay Thai World Champion.

Juniku made her ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Legendary Quest.” She is training out of Modern Warrior Muay Thai in Marsden, Logan City, Queensland.

Born Nadthawon Panthong in Rayong, Thailand on September 27, 1991, Stamp is originally from Rayong Province, Thailand. She was only 5 years old when she had her first Muay Thai match and eventually became the first female Thai athlete to be sponsored by Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya.

Stamp became the ONE Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion on October 6, 2018 and the inaugural ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion on February 22, 2019. “ONE: Legendary Quest” marked her third ONE Championship bout excluding her one ONE Warrior Series win.

Fight Result

“ONE: Legendary Quest” marked Stamp’s first title defense as the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion. Atushi Onari served as the referee while Ian Cartwright of Canada, Olivier Coste of France and Rosenberg Rosete of the Philippines were the judges.

After five three-minute rounds, the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Championship bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Onari raised the hand of Stamp, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Legendary Quest” improved the professional kickboxing and Muay Thai record of Stamp to 63 wins, 15 losses and 5 draws. On the other hand, Juniku now has 24 wins and 5 losses.

“ONE: Legendary Quest” Co-Main Event

Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia faced ONE Championship debutante Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama, 43, of Osaka, Japan in an MMA match in the welterweight division. The Malaysian contender won via unanimous decision.
