[PHOTOS] Japan vs Australia: Kazuki Tokudome, Adrian Pang fight at ‘ONE: Warriors of Light’ in Thailand

China and Pakistan were among the 15 countries represented at “ONE: Warriors of Light.” It was the second ONE Championship event in 2019 held in Thailand.

Featuring three kickboxing contests, four Muay Thai matches and five mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Warriors of Light” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on May 10, 2019. The sixth bout of the evening was between Kazuki Tokudome, 32, of Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan and Adrian “The Hunter” Pang, 41, of Australia.

While Tokudome was one of the four fighters who represented Japan at “ONE: Warriors of Light,” Pang solely represented Australia and Papua New Guinea. Algeria, Australia, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, Cyprus, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Portugal, Thailand and the United States were also represented.

Blue Corner

Born in Kokopo, East New Britain, Papua New Guinea on September 1, 1977, Pang was 13 years old when he and his family moved to Australia. Training out of Integrated MMA and Fairtex, he made his professional MMA debut in 2001 and joined ONE Championship in 2014.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” marked Pang’s eighth ONE Championship outing. He is a former Legend FC Lightweight Champion.

Red Corner

Born in Hachioji on March 4, 1987, Tokudome is training out of Paraestra Hachioji in Tokyo. He has been competing professionally since 2007 and he is a former Pancrase Lightweight World Champion.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” marked Tokudome’s third ONE Championship outing. He previously competed in Pancrase and the Ultimate Fighting Championship, among others.

Fight Result

Tokudome and Pang competed in an MMA match in the lightweight division. Olivier Coste served as the referee.

Coste put a stop to the lightweight contest after 1 minute and 57 seconds in the second round. Tokudome knocked out Pang.

Winning at “ONE: Warriors of Light” improved the professional MMA record of Tokudome to 19 wins, 10 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Pang now has 23 wins, 13 losses and 2 draws.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” Main Events

Petchdam Petchyindee Academy, 20, of Thailand and Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi, 21, of Algeria competed for the inaugural ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship in the co-main event. The Thai contender won via technical decision after an accidental groin attack in the fourth round.

Hiroaki “Kaibutsukun” Suzuki, 34, of Japan challenged reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-o Gaiyanghadao, 32, of Thailand in the main event. The Thai defending champion won via unanimous decision.

The official open workout for “ONE: Warriors of Light” took place in Bangkok on April 25, 2019. It featured NongO and Petchdam along with their fellow Thai ONE Championship athletes “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, 21, Singtongnoi Por Telakun, 38, Superlek Kiatmoo9, 23, and Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit, 22.

Australia vs Japan: Adrian Pang, Kota Shimoishi to fight at ‘ONE: Heart of the Lion’ in Singapore

Australia and Japan will be represented at “ONE: Heart of the Lion,” a ONE Championship event taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018. In the fifth bout of the evening, Adrian “The Hunter” Pang, 41, of Queensland, Australia will face Kota “Genjin” Shimoishi, 31, of Osaka, Japan.

A martial arts veteran with a professional mixed martial arts record of 22 wins, 12 losses and 2 draws, Pang has decimated opponents with his incredible power and no-frills approach to striking in nearly two decades as a professional. He is known for his astounding durability and overwhelming strength, with the ability to walk through opponents with little to no resistance.

However, Pang will need to muster all of his strength when he looks to reinsert himself in the winner’s column. “ONE: Heart of the Lion” gives him a chance to break his four-bout losing streak.

Shimoishi is riding a two-bout losing streak and he currently has 21 wins and 6 losses. Representing Blows Gym, he is one of the top-ranked lightweight contenders in Japan.

The Osaka native is a former Shooto Welterweight Tournament Champion. He is known for his well-rounded striking and grappling skills and his ability to deliver victories using his craftiness.

In the co-main event of “ONE: Heart of the Lion,” Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 30, of Singapore and Kazuki Tokudome, 31, of Tokyo, Japan will compete in an MMA match in a catch weight of 73 kg. In the main event, reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil will defend his title against ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of Kiangan, Ifugao, Philippines.

The bantamweight title unification bout will be a rematch between Fernandes and Belingon. Here is the full “ONE: Heart of the Lion” fight card:
