‘Legend FC 13’ in Macau: Knockout artist Liu Lianjie to face top submission specialist Yuan Chunbo

Yuan Chunbo, Liu Lian Jie

Legend Fighting Championship, a pioneer of mixed martial arts in Asia, will mark its return to Macau at the prestigious MGM Theater on September 14, 2019. Knockout artist Liu Lianjie will meet China’s top submission specialist Yuan Chunbo in a main event thriller.

Hailing from Southeast China and living in Beijing, Liu is a veteran of Chinese MMA. Trained at the famed Shaolin Temple, he has gone on to establish himself as a knockout artist with aggressive ground-and-pound, fast hands and a solid wrestling pedigree.

Liu comes to “Legend FC 13” on a three-fight win streak. His most recent victory is a split-decision win over Du Li Le at “Legend FC 12” in Guangzhou, China.

Also at “Legend FC 12,” Yuan defeated rising star Yi Zha with an impressive heel hook submission that had Yi limping out of the cage before the second round. On the other hand, Yuan, who hails from China’s Northeast and lives in Guangzhou, had barely broken a sweat.

Further down the card, decorated MMA and Sanda fighter Tenglige will make his debut inside the Legend FC Bafang against Yi Zha, who will be looking for redemption after a tough loss at “Legend FC 12.” Legend FC is also pleased to announce a four-man 80kg Sanda Tournament to bring the striking art of Sanda to the world stage.

In the first semi-final of the night, highly entertaining striker Yang Zhanwang returns to meet Aerdake Apaer, a wresting wizard who hails from the ethnic region of Xinjiang, China. The second semi-final sees Sichuan native Yu Jianhong face famed kickboxer Chang Juncheng and both men are coming off impressive wins at “Legend FC 12.”

The tournament semi-finals will follow modified Legend FC Sanda rules. Winners will then meet in the finals under full Legend FC MMA rules, allowing athletes to pursue attacks on a grounded opponent.

“We’re always looking for exciting athletes and exciting new ways to present competition,” Legend FC chairman Matthew Kwok said. “Legend FC has an amazing track record of unearthing some of the best talent in Asia and we are incredibly proud to continue this tradition as we head into the next round of events.”
