Thailand the United Kingdom were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” on August 2, 2019. It was the third ONE Championship event in 2019 that took place in the Philippines.

Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches and two Muay Thai matches, “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the ninth bout of the evening, Rodlek PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 29, faced Andrew “Maddog Fairtex” Miller, 28, of the U.K.

Including the U.K. and Thailand, 12 countries were represented at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes.” The other countries were Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, the United States and Vietnam.

Rodlek was one of the three fighters who represented Thailand. Miller was one of the two representatives of the U.K.

Blue Corner

Miller is training out of Fairtex Gym in Pattaya, Thailand. Born in Cumbernauld, Glasgow, Scotland, U.K. on November 20, 1990, he started his Muay Thai training at the age of 18.

“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Miller’s fourth ONE Super Series bout. He was coming out of a knockout loss to Han Zi Hao, 23.

Red Corner

Rodlek is training out of PK. Saenchai Muay Thai gym in Bangkok, Thailand. Born in Ban Na San, Surat Thani, Thailand on February 3, 1990, he has been competing since he was 10 years old.

“ONE: Dawn of Heroes” marked Rodlek’s second ONE Super Series bout. He was coming out of a unanimous decision victory over Liam “Hitman” Harrison, 33, of the U.K.

Results

Under ONE Super Series, Rodlek and Miller competed in a Muay Thai match in the bantamweight division. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.

Onari put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 49 seconds in the third round. Rodlek knocked out Miller via right cross.

Winning at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Rodlek to 127 wins, 40 losses and 5 draw. On the other hand, Miller now has 34 wins, 18 losses and 2 draws.

Lerdsila Phuket Top Team expects facing best strikers in ONE Super Series

Lerdsila Phuket Top Team, 38, was one of the Thai martial artists who attended the official “ONE: Dreams of Gold” open workout on July 25, 2019. It took place at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Including Lerdsila, six fighters will represent Thailand at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” The others are Bangpleenoi Petchyindee Academy, 25, “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, 29, ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 21, Muangthai PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 21, and ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion “The Baby Shark” Petchdam Petchyindee Academy, 21.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Dreams of Gold” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on August 16, 2019. One of the ONE Super Series bouts is a Muay Thai contest between Lerdsila and Savvas “The Baby Face Killer” Michael, 22, of Cyprus in the flyweight division.

“I would like to thank ONE Championship for the opportunity to showcase my skills and abilities to millions of people around the world,” Lerdsila stated. “Joining ONE Super Series, I knew I would be facing off against the best striking talents.”

While Lerdsila represents Phuket Top Team of Phuket, Thailand, Michael is training out of Petchyindee Academy in Bangkok. The Thai fighter holds a professional Muay Thai record of 189 wins, 31 losses and 5 draws while the Cypriot contender has 31 wins and 1 loss.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Dreams of Gold” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on August 16, 2019. One of the ONE Super Series bouts is a catchweight Muay Thai contest between Bangpleenoi and Liam Nolan, 22, of the United Kingdom.

“I want to prove to myself and to all the fans that I am one of the best fighters in my weight class,” Bangpleenoi stated. “Each time I step through those ropes, I carry the pride of Thailand with me.”

“ONE: Dreams of Gold” marks Bangpleenoi’s second ONE Super Series outing. It is also Nolan’s second bout in the striking-only league of ONE Championship.

“First of all, it is both an honor and a privilege to showcase my skills in front of all the Thai fans here in Bangkok,” Bangpleenoi said. “Competing against the best in the world here in my hometown is a very special moment for me. I do everything in my power to bring glory to my country and prove that Thai fighters are the most talented and hard-working athletes.”

[PHOTOS] Malaysia vs Malaysia: Saiful Merican, Mohammed bin Mahmoud fight at ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ in Malaysia

Malaysia was well-represented at the ONE Championship event titled “ONE: Masters of Destiny” on July 12, 2019. The fight card featured mixed martial arts matches as well as ONE Super Series contests including Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts.

ONE Championship held “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The fifth bout of the evening was between Malaysian fighters “Jordan Boy” Mohammed bin Mahmoud, 23, and Saiful “The Vampire” Merican, 30.

Blue Corner

Bin Mahmoud is training out Sampuri Muay Thai Gym Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. “ONE: Masters of Destiny” marked his fifth ONE Super Series bout.

Red Corner

Merican is training out of Merican Muay Thai Gym in Kuala Lumpur. He competed in eight MMA bouts in ONE Championship from 2013 to 2017 but he made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.”

Results

Olivier Coste was the referee of the bout between Bin Mahmoud and Merican, who competed in a Muay Thai match in the bantamweight division. It was the second Muay Thai match on the card.

After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Coste raised the hand of bin Mahmoud, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” improved the professional Muay Thai record of bin Mahmoud to 32 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, Merican now holds a professional Muay Thai record of 94 wins, 17 losses and 13 draws.

Including Malaysia, 20 countries were represented at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.” The others were Australia, Brazil, China, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam and the United States.

The match between bin Mahmoud and Merican was the only bout between two Malaysians. Including the two, four hometown heroes were on the card.
